Derek Frey Williams lives, works, and plays in Honesdale Borough and gets around primarily on foot. During weekdays, he works as a public servant planning, mapping, and grant writing for the people. After hours and on weekends, Derek makes more maps, writes about local issues, designs festivals, and talks to folks about town.
His four year term as Honesdale Borough Mayor began in January, 2022 after being elected as an independent via “Walking For Mayor” campaign.
Derek resides in a Main Street building on the downtown canal fringe. He enjoys walking around, watching movies, reading, writing, eating fries, exploring other towns, and creating things with his neighbors. Mayor Derek lives with his partner, Lisa, and their twin rabbits Twigs and Pebble.
In addition to Mayor, Derek was previously voted “Class Hairdo” for Honesdale High School’s class of 2002.
